Flowering Dogwood cards

Posted by Janice Upton on

Last week I decided to make a few cards using the Heartfelt Creations Flowering Dogwood die and stamp sets. The sets had been sitting on my desk waiting, waiting, waiting.... to be used!

So I set to and stamped some flowers on vellum, using Versamark Ink, embossed with white embossing powder then cut flowers out, using a gold marker edged the flowers and stamen then put them aside.

I then stamped using Distress Oxide Ink, Faded Jeans, some more flowers but on white cardstock this time and cut them out, sponged flowers lightly with Worn Lipstick and edged flowers with Faded Jeans and put aside.

I repeated this process but this time stamping with Stazon Ink and colouring with Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber using my Water Brush (Detailer Tip) with some ink from the pad blending the colours on the flowers.

I stamped some leaves using Peeled Paint Distress Ink then sponged lightly with Shabby Shutters then cut them out too.

And then I just looked at them, they looked so pretty but what was I going to do with them? After much shuffling of flowers, leaves and papers, looking on the internet for inspiration (as we do), I decided it was time to make dinner!!!  I'll come back to this.  So the next day I put some time aside to actually finish the cards and this was the result.....

I was pleased I walked away from it, instead of going through with the urge to throw it in the bin and start again. Sometimes you need to walk away and stop over-thinking it. So don't give up on what you are doing, leave it for a while, come back and try again.

Thanks for stopping by.
